Today on #MakersTV I share my story, talk a bit about myself and why I do what I do.

This week, I realized that we’re 40 episodes in and I haven’t really introduced myself. I do like to bang on myself a bit and the Makers Collective has a whole that talks my life .  Just a short version of what’s in there, I have been a creative my entire life, I am a maker at heart, and have had crazy designs painted on my legs. I am also a qualified teacher in graphic design and I have taught in secondary school for 6 years. I quit that for a while and did my own business full-time.

I am currently a university teacher and I need to get a high qualification to continue being a lecturer. I have just put in my research proposal to do my PhD, specifically on the impacts of micro businesses by women in the design industry and research on its survival rate.  I really wanted to research thoroughly what makes these business owners quit or continue and how they passed the 3-year mark. As well as what makes the income small, like an average per year is 7,000 dollars. You can’t live off that amount of money and I want to see why that is. Is it because makers don’t value their craft enough and don’t see it as a legitimate career? These are just a few ideas I have for my proposal.

Moving forward with my episodes, I continue to update where I currently am with my research to help you move forward with your business. I can develop suggestions on how to what’s going wrong with your business at the moment.

So in of my business and why I do that, I like making, I’m a teacher and they kind of just go together. Aside from that, my sister’s unexplained death years ago and one of my student’s suicide, made me realize that I could impact lives in a positive way in times of tragedy. These experiences made me want to make sure that I live for my sister. I need to forward the creative movement of in Australia and in the world in honor of my sister and I know she will be very proud.

Life is very short and I wouldn’t want to be spending that time doing something really boring, doing something that makes me unhappy, or just sitting behind a desk on a 9-5 job. I personally want to make a difference and this is a way that I can do it. It’s why I want to bring communities together and help everyone to forward their business. If we could have the same thing doing for everyone else and be excited to get up in the morning just doing something you actually like doing while earning at the same time. We need to rise each other up, help each other.

I simply wanted to share my , my qualifications, and share my knowledge and what I know to make sure that you hit those list of things you need to know than have to sift through all the garbage that’s online to save you time and effort.

CAN YOU CONFIDENTLY SAY YOU ARE WORKING ON THE RIGHT THING, RIGHT NOW IN YOUR BUSINESS?

Sometimes, even when we are doing all the right things, it can feel like we’re spinning our wheels and not moving forward at all. This could be because you’re focusing on the wrong area of your business – or doing all the right things, but at the wrong time.
